The Soterian TS008 Stainless Steel Letterplate
Features Include:
The letterplate consists of a minimal internal flap projection of only 35mm from the door surface, giving a less intrusive feel to the door. In fact, the letterplate lies within the straight line from the hinge side of the door to the handle. This unrestricted door opening means the door can open fully without the risk of the letterplate smashing against the house wall and cause damage to the interior wall.

Named after the Goddess of Safety, The Soterian letterplate is stylish, streamlined and Secure in its design. With over 120 processes in each letterplate, The Soterian is the ultimate TS008 certified letterplate made to protect and perfect the door.
What is TS008?
TS008 has come in to effect that sets the advanced security and general requirements for letterplates. The updated door standard PAS24:2016, now requires that an external door fitted with a letter plate has to meet the new standard.
In order to meet TS008 test requirements, the letterplate must eliminate the risk of an intruder gaining access to the property by means of physical force, ‘fishing’ and lock manipulation, whilst also maintaining clear access for postal items.
Nanocoast Hardware
PVD gold, mirror polished and satin stainless finishes are part of the Nanocoast range. These products are made from 316 grade stainless steel, and are specifically designed for areas which are within a 25 mile radius of the coast, or within 5 miles of highly populated industrial areas. Unlike brass and zinc based products, the Nanocoast products will not pit, rust or corrode no matter what environments you put them in. This means that the products will last longer, and keep your customers happy. What's more, every Nanocoast product comes with a lifetime coating guarantee!
The Soterian
It's highly engineered features are what set The Soterian apart from anything else currently on the market - making it both a highly secure and modern looking addition to the door.
In addition, the rounded rounded flap design set against a shallower frame has been cleverly developed to avoid any sharp edges that could be a hazard for small children to bump into.
The innovative pivoting stay mechanism reduces the opening to 37° for protection against 'fishing', as well as preventing intruders being able to manipulate the cylinder and unlock the door through the letterplate.
The rigorous testing requirements means that the Soterian can withstand thousands of openings without breaking, making them last even longer. Designed for 44m composite and timber doors, the installation is quick and simple.
Another great feature of The Soterian is that there are no visible fixings to the exterior of the letterplate, preventing the outer frame being unscrewed from the door externally. Instead, the concealed self-aligning metal plate fixings within the interior of the external flap greatly enhance the strength and durability of the letterplate.
Mix and Match SolutionAnd for the first time our revolutionary mix and match solution gives you the freedom to choose what finish you want for the internal and external frame. Whether it is a black inner frame with a white outer frame, or a traditional gold inner flap and gold outer flap – the choice is yours!
Choose from 5 different finishes chrome, gold anodised, silver anodised, polished silver, black and white.
Certifire Fire RatedIt is possible to order the Soterian in a Certifire fire rated version. It has been awarded the 60 minute fire-resistant Certifire certificate for 54mm timber doors and tested to Certifire standards for up to 30 minutes on a 44mm timber door profile. Receiving Certifire certification means that after stringent testing The Soterian has proven to withstand the effects of a fire and remain intact on the door for at least 30 minutes.
The fire-rated TS008 letterplate range features an intumescent lining which has the ability to expand to 50 times its volume in order to seal any gaps in the door hardware. This in turn reduces the amount of smoke that is able to seep through the aperture; and completely prevents the spread of flame.
The Soterian TS008 letterplate is compliant to BS EN1634-3:2004 smoke leakage regulations.

Letterplate Flap Cycle Machine
By replicating the action of opening and closing the letterplates flaps, the machine can determine the durability of the hinge mechanism on the product. The flaps are repeatedly opened and closed to ensure they can withstand thousands of openings without snapping or breaking, promising a product that will last much longer than others in the industry. The process is repeated to 100,000 repetitions – with only 20,000 required by testing standards. Tests are performed in accordance with BS EN 13724:2013.
Anti-Fishing Tests
This standardised security test measures the ability of a letterplate to resist attack by fishing; a method of gaining keys through a letterbox using a hook. A letterplate must prevent the accessibility of a hook through it, and this is tested by inserting an aluminium rod, which is 6mm in diameter and 1200mm long, through the letterplate and seeing whether or not it can touch a target of 20mm in diameter, which has been placed on a table on the other side of the door.
If the rod is unable to touch the target, then it passes the technical standard. If not then a further test is conducted to see if a disc 0.075kg can be retrieved through the door.
Salt Spray Test
This machine tests the corrosion resistance of the letterplates. The salt spray cabinet produces a corrosive environment, by releasing a dense saline fog into the chamber which the letterplates are exposed to. This creates an accelerated corrosion of the letterplate and allows us to test how well the letterplate would stand up in harsher environments.
The letterplates are tested for differing lengths of time depending on the standard requirements; 480 hours for zamak and aluminium based letterplates where we offer a 5 year inland coating guarantee, and in the case of stainless steel Nanocoast letterplates, we test for 2,000 hours where we offer a LIFETIME coating guarantee anywhere in the country, as the letterplates will not pit or rust.
Tensile Strength Test
The tensile strength machine tests the resistance of a material to breaking under tension. It is used to see how well the letterplates perform when pressure is applied to them. The letterplates are attached to pieces of timber or plastic to see how well the fixings perform with the letterplate, which gives a more accurate test on the overall letterplate performance.
