UAP Supports Fire Door Safety Week 2018!

We’re pleased to support this year’s Fire Door Safety Week. The campaign will run from Monday 24th September to Sunday 30th September 2018.

Founded by the British Woodworking Federation, BWF-CERTIFIRE Scheme and Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS), FDSW is now supported by a wide range of organisations.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the crucial role fire doors play in every commercial, public and multiple occupancy building. The goal is to engage and educate people, helping the whole building industry and every property owner to understand the correct specification, supply, installation, operation, inspection and maintenance of fire doors.

UAP are pledging their support to raise awareness and improve fire door safety by highlighting the importance of door hardware in ensuring a door is as fire-resistant as possible.

Fire Rated Features

Both our fire rated letterboxes and door viewers have intumescent linings. This innovative material has the ability to expand up to 50 times its size when exposed to heat in order to seal any gaps in the door hardware, reducing the amount of smoke that can seep through a fire door.

Where a fire is concerned it is not only how quickly materials burn, but how structures stay intact. That’s why our fire rated letterplates have non-heat absorbing washers. These prevent heat transfer from the screws to the plastic surrounding the metal fixings, reducing the time it takes for fire to spread through a fire door.
