We’ve Raised £331.70 for Charity with Macmillan

At the end of September, UAP held its first ever Macmillan Coffee Morning, in which staff kindly contributed their great bakes to raise money for charity. We managed to raise a whopping £331.70 just from coffee and cake!

“Cancer Patients Should Not Be Burdened By The Additional Costs And Worries”

Macmillan cancer charity is one of the largest charities in the UK and provides physical, financial and emotional support to those affected by cancer, making a big difference to their lives and the success of their treatment. They can provide advisers to find solutions for covering the costs associated with care, granting loans to patients who need it. Their philosophy is that cancer patients should not be burdened by the additional costs and worries of their disease in order to make their treatment less of a struggle.

1 in 2 of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime, with 363,000 recorded new cases every year. Donations to cancer charities such as Macmillan go towards the prevention and treatment of cancer, making it more likely that those affected will survive the disease.

Where The Money Goes

They state that a £52 donation could run their online community support forum for an hour, giving 750 people support, while £250 could pay for 5 people with cancer to attend a health and well-being event. £335 could pay for a ‘Macmillan grant’, giving a family affected by cancer an opportunity to go on holiday together, and £546 could pay for someone’s Macmillan social care worker for a week. Our donation of £331.70 could contribute to a range of these support opportunities.
