UAP Limited’s Commitment to Carbon Neutrality: A Decade of Impactful Environmental Action

Did you know that UAP Limited, a leading supplier of door hardware and decorative glass products, has been actively planting trees to stay carbon neutral since 2009? Our commitment to environmental sustainability is evident through our long-term partnership with the Plant A Tree Today (PATT) Foundation, a UK-registered charity. Here’s how we’ve made a significant impact on restoring ecosystem stability and offsetting carbon emissions.

Restoring Ecosystem Stability with PATT
In our quest to combat climate change and promote sustainability, UAP Limited funded a three-year project with the PATT Foundation. This initiative aimed to plant 50,000 trees in Thailand, specifically in a forest that had suffered from selective logging of valuable hardwoods. By reintroducing essential native tree species, we are facilitating the natural regeneration of the forest to its original state.

The project also established a tree nursery to support the initiative’s growth over time, allowing for ongoing research and expansion. This nursery is crucial for gaining experience in growing key framework species that are vital for forest restoration.

Achieving Carbon Neutrality
At our Bury premises, we’ve implemented several methods to neutralize our carbon emissions, achieving an audited zero rating. Our efforts include:

Efficient Transportation and Delivery Cycles: We’ve optimized our logistics to reduce emissions from transportation.
Energy Efficiency Measures: Implementing energy-saving practices at our facilities.
Despite these efforts, we recognized that more could be done. By partnering with PATT, we’ve been able to offset an additional 1,000 metric tons of carbon emissions, contributing significantly to our carbon neutrality goals.
