Starting on the 15th of January, UAP began hosting lunchtime yoga classes on site for any members of staff who want to take part.
This is part of an initiative to take care of employee’s physical and mental health, as yoga is proven to have a wide range of positive effects, such as reduced stress and anxiety, boosted morale and work ethic, and it can lead to healthier choices being made in other areas of life. It’s also excellent team bonding!
Sessions at UAP are run by Kelly Renzulli from the studio Forever Hot Yoga in Whitefield, Manchester. It was initially organised within the marketing team, but interest from other employees was surprisingly overwhelming, and so the classes became open to everyone while UAP subsidises half of the cost.
Sessions have been taking place during lunchtimes, and all members of staff are encouraged to join – we have a mixture of beginners and pros!
There is currently a wider growing consciousness across multiple industries about the importance of taking care of your employees to reduce burnout and increase productivity, and we are aware that companies need to be doing more to support their workforce. Group yoga that relaxes and revitalises employees is definitely a big step towards this.
