The choice of components within a composite fire door is important. Hurst Plastics, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of high quality door panels and composite doors has been choosing us to supply the hardware for their composite door ranges since 2008.

Hurst favour us for our quality, affordability and the effectiveness of our fire resistant products. This makes us the perfect choice of supplier for their fire door range.

Howard Wilson, Composite Manager, Hurst Plastics says,

“The fire rated letter plates, door viewers and numerals that we source from UAP are of a high standard and are competitively priced. This enables us to produce a high quality finished product and remain competitive within the marketplace. As a high volume manufacturer, we rely on a robust supply chain and UAP satisfies our requirements to help us to maintain a consistent output of composite fire doors.”

“Our high performance composite fire door is widely specified within the commercial sector and it is essential that each component meets our strict quality criteria.”

We supply a range of hardware solutions that have been made with fire durability in mind. All of the products in our Fire Check range use the most innovative materials to slow down the spread of fire through a door. All products have been stringently tested and materials have been hand-picked for the best results.

All of our fire resistant products have been both quality and fire tested to make sure they are as safe and effective as possible.

Both the fire resistant door viewers and letter plates include revolutionary features which slow down the speed in which a fire can spread through a door. Intumescent lining is used, which has the unique ability to expand against heat radiated directly from a fire. The intumescent lining expands to 50 times its size, sealing any gaps in the door hardware meaning less smoke is able to get through.

The non-heat absorbing washers hold the letter plates’ metal fittings. They are extremely important as they act as a heat sink, keeping the metals screws away from the plastic and in turn the heat. We want to stop the screws from getting too hot as if they do the plastic surrounding them will melt and the letter plate will collapse – but with these patented washers this doesn’t happen.

The suite of Hurst composite fire doors includes FD30, FD30S and FDSBD. Each offers a full half hour fire rating and conforms to BS476: Part 22: 1987. An FD60 door is also available for more demanding applications. Our fire resistant door hardware can be installed with a number of Hurst composite fire doors.
